Daniella Pineda Cast as Sophie in The Originals

Daniella Pineda is a young Mexican-American actress and comedian from Oakland, California. In January 2013 it was announced that she was cast as the witch Sophie for the backdoor pilot for The Originals, which will air April 25th, 2013. This pilot  revolves around The Originals and taking place in the French Quarter of New Orleans. If the series gets picked up for the 2013-2014 season, Sophie will be a regular cast member, causing all kinds of trouble.

Not much is known about Daniella’s personal life except that she graduated from Mills College. Going to her official website reveals more. She refers to herself as “the most famous actress you’ve never heard of.” She is currently raising money via Kickstarter for her passion horror film project, COCAINE SLEEPOVER. Maybe starring in The Originals isn’t so much a stretch for her. She also reviews The Room, which she calls “the worst film I have ever seen,” and puts up a new song embed everyday.

Her professional credits are already many. For film, she has been featured in Edward Burns’ Newlyweds. For television, she was featured in Men of a Certain Age, The Fitzgerald Family Christmas, and a failed pilot for an NBC show called Midnight Son (let’s hope the pilot for The Originals fares better). Her most memorable performance so far has been as Officer Julia Diaz on the “Two Hats” episode in the second season of the Emmy and Golden Globe-winning series, Homeland. We think the best is yet to come for her.
