Joseph Morgan on Klaroline and birth of The Originals baby

On May 16th The CW had their upfronts in New York, and Robyn Ross of TV Guide spoke with The Vampire Diaries and The Originals star Joseph Morgan about Klaus leaving Mystic Falls for New Orleans with his brother Elijah, played by Daniel Gillies, and his sister Rebekah, played by Claire Holt, Klaroline, and when Klaus’ baby is going to be born.

Since The Vampire Diaries 4×23 “Graduation” season finale has already aired, we know that the graduation present that Klaus gave Caroline, played by Candice Accola, was letting Tyler return to Mystic Falls. He was going to give her a first-class ticket to New Orleans, but he didn’t think she’d accept them. He didn’t say whether the ticket was one-way! What he did do is declare his undying love for her.

Klaus to Caroline

He’s your first love. I intend to be your last.

Seemed to me there was  some love shining on her face as she looked at Klaus declaring his love for her. Although we got a kiss, it wasn’t a lip-lock. It would have been interesting to know what happened when he guided her off the graduation field.

Joseph Morgan has great love for the fans, and he said that scene was added for all the Klaroline shippers to assure them that just because Klaus is leaving Mystic Falls doesn’t mean that he’s leaving Caroline behind.

Joseph Morgan and Klaroline

[There was] a responsibility for the fans who were rooting for Klaus and Caroline to at least give them some sort of resolve. That’s not saying it’s the end of that because there’s the potential of crossovers, but to acknowledge that we owed that to them. It was really generous of [the writers] that after all the terrible things that Klaus has done, to give me something where he can come in and save the day.

Klaus saved the day by saving Damon, again, and saving all the vamps by flinging that lethal red graduation cap at the witch doing her siren thing and separating her head from her body. “I can do this all day,” he threatens them. Nobody better mess with his Caroline!

Another question Robyn Ross asked Joseph is when will the baby be born. He admitted that he hadn’t given it much thought, but he did give possible hints as to when the blessed event would occur. He also mentioned that The Originals will have 13 episodes, so it sounds like The CW hasn’t picked up the series for a full season.
