Spoiler on Bonnie and Jeremy on The Vampire Diaries season 5

Although season 5 of The Vampire Diaries will begin with a jump in time from Senior Graduation to the beginning of college at Whitmore College in October, for Bonnie Bennett and Jeremy Gilbert it will begin as it ended, with her being dead on the other side of the veil and Jeremy being alive on this side.

What’s going to happen with these veil separated lovers between human Jeremy and ghostly Bonnie, and what does this situation mean for Kat Graham. Will she remain on The Vampire Diaries or slowly fade away into her burgeoning music career?

Both Kat Graham and Steven R. McQueen, who plays Jeremy Gilbert, former or still vampire hunter and newly returned from the dead mortal, have some thoughts on how things will progress in season 5. For Kat, she revealed that she’s excited to see what will happen between Bonnie and Jeremy. After all, she gave up her life for love of Jeremy and her friends, which Kat feels may make you look weak, but when you give up your life for love and being selfless, it’s the most powerful decision that anybody can make.

Kat on the evolution of Bonnie and Jeremy

It’s great how they’ve evolved the friendship, more so, with Bonnie and Jeremy. It’s cool that, because of the situation with her being on the Other Side, where the only person she can communicate with is Jeremy, it forces an even more intimate relationship with him. There’s even more of a unity and support.

Kat revealed that since Bonnie is on the other side the writers are playing around with the challenges that entails, and she likes what they’re doing so far. Although she couldn’t say too much about the storylines, she did reveal that Bonnie will be experiencing things she hasn’t experienced before.

Kat on season 5

I’m all about staying firm in one’s decisions, but there are things that happen early on in the season that are going to propel different decisions. I might have felt that way before I entered season five, but now I’ve realized there are two sides to it.

I’m really excited by the way they’re writing her this season. There’s so much more that happens, but my hands are tied with what I can say.

Julie Plec has hinted that the writers aren’t done with Bonnie yet, so it sounds like she’s going to be around for awhile, even though the two lovers will have to settle for just talking and seeing each other, unless there are a few glitches in the veil in which case they could occasionally touch! Steven revealed that at first he was happy to return to the land of the living, until he realized what the cost was.

For a moment, Jeremy was blissfully happy to be home. But his return came at a price – it cost him the love of his life. I am excited to see where this goes next.

Kat mentioned that there had been many conversations about the demise of Bonnie, but “It is what it is.” She says that she enjoyed the time she’s been on the show, and whether she just has one line or many more years, she doesn’t intend to change her work, and will continue to give 100% to the iconic and beloved role of Bonnie Bennett.

Another part of her life which won’t change is Kat’s music career! She’s been releasing bits of her next single “Power” over the past few weeks, and she revealed that it exposes a new and different side of her. Her fiancé, Cottrell Guidry, also appears in the music video, and she says that he was very involved in the whole process.

Kat on her “Power” music video

Originally, the idea was for me to be by myself, and I was like, ‘It should feel like somebody’s there, even if you don’t see the face and it’s not a full feature. It should still feel like there is a presence there.’ So we played with a few different ideas, and that was our outcome.

Kat Graham has the “Power”!

Kat’s “Power” single will be for sale on Amazon on sale July 30th. The Vampire Diaries returns for their fifth season on October 10th, 2013, at 8/7c on The CW.
